Aah, these are my favourite thing out of all I have made recently! Little Kokeshi doll charms - really very very little.

The smallest is just 1½cm tall (about half an inch), and the biggest is about 2cm (¾") tall...

Kokeshi Doll Charm/Pendant/Bead Deails

Made from lightweight polymer clay (Fimo/Sculpey). Charms measure between 1½cm (½") - 2cm (¾"). Hair is glazed with two coats of varnish for vibrance and charms have detail painted in acrylics and a mixture of varnish/gold powder.

Any questions/queries, please feel free to ask! Any comments/:+fav:s appreciated!

FULL VIEW is recommended to see the detail on the small pieces

I received my first real Kokeshi doll as a present from my boyfriend when we had a eekend away in York a couple of weeks ago, and since then I have collected a few more, they are really cheery things to have around the place. My boyfriend has a dumpy little one in a yellow kimono sitting on top of his TV - she looks so serene :)

Cool :D don't recall ever seeing them around, but I'll keep my eyes open - they're really sweet :)

OK, I will make a tutorial about how to make them - the only bit that really needs an explanation is shaping the hair and fitting it around the head, but I will try and make a tutorial to explain all of this :)

lol, I find dolls a bit creepy too, but not ones like this. I have seen, here on DA, a lot of very realistic looking dolls, I find them very very creepy, but Japanese Kokeshi dolls are by nature very stylised, having these simple shapes as they do, so I do not find them creepy at all.
