Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.
One such un-aerodynamic Mr. Bumble once flew into my guitar, committing Bee kamikaze as though his GPS system told him the way into the guitar, neither his sense of direction nor my gentle coaxing could tempt him back out again, and his amplified buzzy song slowly died to a faint hum and then into nothing. To commemorate my friendly little bee buddy I made the following picture:
And I dedicated to him the following little ditty:
Ode to a Bee
Hello, Mr Bumble.
I wonder how you are
As you busy buzzy tumble
Inside of my guitar.
I hear your jazzy music
that your buzzing makes for me,
Though it's composed of just one note
(Naturally, a 'b'
.
You've been in there for hours...
Iwonder how you are
And if I should pick some flowers
And put them into my guitar?
Then you can make some honey
As you play for me
And I can make some money
With my buzzy busking bee! Some months after the incident, the sad fate of the bee still weighing on my conscience, I made a commemorative bracelet of the friend I never got to know. Wittily, I called the polymer clay Mr Bumbles 'BEEDS', because, you know, I am never one to miss a pun.
Now, some years after the bee in the guitar incident, I play an electric guitar - there's no way a bee can find his way in there, But still, I like to think of what my friendly bee would be doing if he didn't decided to pay a visit to that huge, pink, guitar-shaped flower in Mimi's living room. Much as I like to think of him, this is what the romantic side of my nature would care to imagine:
But in reality, I know that the bee is dead, and far more likely to look it, even though he may still be cute (please excuse the following pun - I never could resist a bit of wordplay... Zombees...) Heheh - geddit?!
I close with some more great Bee artwork from all around DeviantArt. I m surprised that my friend the bee managed to visit so many people before he finally found his fate in my flat - losing his way in my living room, stumbling into my guitar. Maybe it is a sure sign that I should tidy up....
Anyway, bees for your viewing pleasure:
